Pennies From Heaven

Things like this never happened when I lived in Worms.
A German motorist surprised by euro notes swirling in the air around her car hit the brakes and collected a "substantial amount of money" before turning it over to police, authorities in Worms said on Thursday.

Labels:

Worms? There's a place called worms? Well, I suppose since it says, "German motorist" it must be in Germany. . .So, do ya speak German then?

Ich spreche ein bisschen Deutsch.

Actually, yes, I speak some German. I understand it when someone else speaks it a little better than when I try to come up with something myself.

I spent most of my teenage years out west, and took 4 1/2 years of Spanish, as that was the best thing to know there. I then promptly moved to Germany and spent four years living there, trying to learn German. Now I speak both passably, but I'm definitely better with Spanish. I usually end up throwing in a German word or two when trying to have a conversation in Spanish, and vice-versa. I would love to have the time to really practice and become fluent in both.

The languages I would really love to know are Italian and Russian. Knowing Spanish definitely helps to understand Italian, though. It helps when watching the Godfather trilogy.

I've had an interest in Arabic since the first Gulf war. I learned a few words from my father, who spent a year in Egypt, but not enough to be worth anything.

I know a few Spanish words. I did grow up with all sorts of Mexicans around me afterall (San Diego).

Italian sounds really pretty. I had some Italian friends when I lived in Pakistan and they always sounded like they were singing to each other or reciting poetry or something.

German though. . .not so pretty.

I also happen to love the sound of Arabic especially in a song.

The only language I know enough of to have even a really silly gramatically incorrect conversation in is Urdu.
